Little Miss Sunshine

In the film Little Miss Sunshine, directed by Jonathan Dayton Valerie Faris and written by Michael Arndt there is a family that resides in an Albuquerque, New Mexico home. The movie revolves around a blended dysfunctional family, that includes a huge egotistical father, a stressed-filled mother, an insecure yet innocent daughter, an introverted son, a suicidal uncle, and drug-addict grandfather. This is clearly not the normal family but in the movies this what we deal with. The family realizes that they're not normal but they make it work. The entire story-line of the movie is young daughter and sister, Olive to one of biggest beauty pageants in California for young girls. Watching the film in the beginning, it seems to show all the flawed aspects within the family and their home. It portrays the different issues within each character themselves as well. Throughout the movie each character grows individually not only by working together as a family but simply working together to keep the innocence of the young daughter & Sister, Olive. This film seems to come off as a film that plots a dramatic family on a long road trip but that's only a portion of the main theme of the movie. Towards the end of the movie when Olive performs at the pageant the entire audience is sort of mortified with Olive's performance & dedication of her late grandfather. They judge her and her family, but olive is so young she doesn't really realize what is going on. Too save Olive from a embarrassing trauma, the whole family savors the moment and supports young Olive and her dream of performing in that pageant. I believe the movies main focus is the love and support they have for one another.
